Program Mitch Garvis will present on Windows 7 and possibly Office 2010.

Here is a quote to introduce Mitch:
"I have written a few articles on Windows 7 so far, and will be writing a number more in the next two weeks. The ones that are already published are at either mitchgarvis.com or garvis.ca.
If you type in the word ‘Springboard’ into Search you should get the lot of them."

You will not want to miss this meeting!
Disk of the Month The free October software is called Book Designer. It is another piece of software that allows you to setup a photo album for your pictures. You can place a number of pictures on a page and put a short description with each picture.

The company will gladly put these pictures in a finished album for a price. However the beauty of this software is that you can email your creation to your friends without going through the software company.

Program The September meeting will be a preview of the newest Microsoft operating system "WINDOWS 7".
Andrew Swanstrom from Datatek is the presenter.
Disk of the Month For the new season rather than have a software item I thought that a web site may be more appropriate as we have all been talking about the(most beautiful???) summer we didn't have chosen this web site as I feel that it is one of the better sites to find out about the weather we have ,Locally, Nationally and Internationally. I know that I look at it three or four times a day, especially when there is a storm about. Additionally if you are interested in upper winds, such as the jet stream, aviation weather, what it is like in Panama, Porto Rico etc it is all there. The more you explore this site the more fantastic it becomes. Have fun with www.sarnia.com/weather/frmain.html

Program Bring along YOUR COMPUTER QUESTIONS to the meeting...

At the SCUG General Meeting we are doing a live demonstration on Remote Control.

We will be connecting between the Computer Tutor's system at her home in Toronto and our laptop at the meeting. We will be using 2 main software programs (both are free): Skype and Teamviewer.

Here is how it will work: Members will be able to ask Pamela computer questions on either XP or VISTA. Pamela will then demonstrate how to fix your problem. We will see her actually perform the work on her computer via the large screen and watch every move of her mouse.

Pamela will also demonstrate how she teaches computer via remote control.

Pamela assists other computer user groups around the globe and is interested in doing live meetings such as the one we are going to do this coming Wednesday. Please help us out and bring along your questions so Pamela can demonstrate how this technology works.

This remote access technology is FREE. One thing it is really good for is if someone has a relative or friend who needs some computer help, now you can do this between your 2 computers from anywhere on the planet.

Come out and see how this is done...Maybe you know of someone who can help you via remote access...It is an excellent teaching method when the distance separates us from others.

plus Dick on a Website boosting mission.
Disk of the Month The Freeware selection for this month is a data recovery program called Zero Assumption. The download is a trial version but the picture recovery portion has no time limit. I was handed a camera memory card with no pictures on it even though it was suppose to be full of "once in a lifetime" photos. The program found the pictures and recovered all the them with no problems. Zero Assumption works with Windows 2000, XP and Vista. The link for download can be found on the SCUG website under DOM.
